Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 30, 2026
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Toolr collects, uses, stores, and shares data for the Toolr website, account system, billing system, and Chrome extensions, including Cheapr, Learnr, Quizzr, Linkedr, Explainr, and Simplr.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the data needed to provide the Toolr services and the user-facing extension features you choose to use.
- Account information: name, email address, account identifiers, subscription tier, extension access state, and account preferences.
- Authentication information: password authentication data, verification/reset tokens, Google sign-in information, and extension API keys used to keep you signed in.
- Billing information: subscription status, billing metadata, checkout session metadata, invoices, payment events, and related Stripe customer information. We do not store full payment card numbers.
- Extension usage information: credit usage, limits, reset periods, extension slug, plan status, error states, and operational logs needed to prevent abuse and operate the service.
- Local extension storage: API keys, authentication nonces, billing preferences, currency preferences, language preferences, and extension settings stored in Chrome local storage so the extension can work after sign-in.
- Website content and page context: text, selected text, page title, page URL, page language, browser language, page areas, screenshots or images you select, and page content needed for the extension feature you use.
- Cheapr product data: product title, brand, model, category, specifications, price, currency, product image URL, product page URL, and related shopping-page signals used to detect products and find comparable offers.
- Generated and saved extension content: quiz output, language-learning/vocabulary data, summaries, rewritten text, LinkedIn comment/post drafts, privacy analysis output, and similar content generated or saved through Toolr features.
- Website analytics and security signals: limited information about visits to Toolr pages and interactions with the website, used for security, abuse prevention, and product analytics.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information above to provide the Toolr website and Chrome extensions, authenticate users, sync extension access, process billing, enforce credit limits, prevent abuse, respond to support requests, maintain service reliability, and improve user-facing extension features.
Website content and browsing context are used only when needed for the feature you invoke, such as comparing a product with Cheapr, explaining or translating selected text with Learnr or Explainr, creating quizzes with Quizzr, drafting LinkedIn content with Linkedr, or analyzing policy pages with Simplr. We do not use extension data to build advertising profiles or track your general browsing for unrelated purposes.
4. Chrome Extension Data Handling
Toolr extensions may read page content or page metadata on websites where the extension is active because that access is required to provide the extension's visible features. For example, Cheapr reads product information from the current shopping page to compare offers, and selected-area features may process the image area you choose. Toolr transmits this data to Toolr servers only as needed to provide the requested feature, enforce access limits, and return results to you.
5. Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share user data only with service providers needed to operate Toolr, provide user-facing features, process payments, authenticate users, deliver emails, host infrastructure, secure the service, or comply with legal obligations.
- OpenAI: processes selected text, page content, product images, product descriptions, LinkedIn content, quiz source material, and other user-provided or user-selected content to generate Toolr AI outputs.
- SerpAPI and Google Shopping results: used by Cheapr to search shopping results from product queries and locale signals so Cheapr can return comparable product offers.
- Stripe: processes checkout, subscription, invoice, customer, payment, and billing portal data. Toolr does not store full payment card details.
- Google: provides Google sign-in and related authentication services. Google services may also be involved in hosting or shopping-search infrastructure.
- MongoDB: hosts account records, extension access records, credit usage, saved extension data, and operational service data.
- Redis or cache infrastructure: temporarily stores service cache data such as Cheapr search results and operational cache entries to improve performance and reliability.
- Resend: sends transactional emails such as verification, password reset, account, and billing-related emails.
- Cloud hosting providers, including Google Cloud and Vercel: host Toolr backend, frontend, APIs, logs, and deployment infrastructure.
- BrandArmor AI: provides website pixel/security and brand-protection analytics for Toolr web pages.
6. Limited Use Commitments
Toolr uses Chrome extension user data only to provide or improve the extension's user-facing features, maintain security, prevent abuse, provide support, comply with law, or operate the service. We do not sell Chrome extension user data. We do not use Chrome extension user data for personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising. We do not allow humans to read sensitive user content except when needed for support with your consent, security investigation, legal compliance, or aggregated and anonymized internal operations.
7. Storage and Retention
We retain account, subscription, entitlement, and billing records for as long as needed to provide Toolr, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent abuse. Extension API keys and local settings remain in Chrome local storage until you sign out, clear extension data, or uninstall the extension.
Content sent for AI processing is used to generate the requested response. Toolr may keep operational logs, usage records, generated outputs you save, and cached service data for a limited period or as long as needed to provide the service. Cheapr may cache normalized product data, shopping result metadata, prices, product URLs, image URLs, and match information so repeated searches are faster and more reliable. We avoid storing full page content unless it is necessary for a feature you use, content you save, support, security, or legal compliance.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect user data. Personal and sensitive data transmitted between Toolr extensions, Toolr websites, Toolr APIs, and service providers is sent over secure HTTPS connections. Access to production systems is limited to authorized personnel and service providers with a need to operate the service.
9. Your Choices
You can manage account details from your account page and can sign out of extensions or clear extension data from Chrome. You can request account deletion, data export, or privacy support by emailing hello@toolr.site.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our services, extensions, providers, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
